NAME

X-GEN - cutoff

SYNOPSIS

cutoff [-cd] [lowres] [highres]

DESCRIPTION

"cutoff" reads a MULTIREF with environment variable name MULTIREF and writes out another with environment variable MREFOUT. Reflections that lie within the user-specified resolution limits are output, and reflections outside those limits are not. n.b. If only one of the limits (see "resmin" and "resmax", below) is specified, it is taken to be a high-resolution cutoff. If both are specified but in opposite order (high before low), the program will reverse them for you.

OPTIONS

-c
Ordinarily the `cutoff' operation keeps reflections between the stated resolution limits and eliminates or flags those outside the limits. This flag causes the operation to reverse its logic: if this Boolean is on, the program retains the reflections outside the stated resolution limits and eliminates those within the limits. This allows the user to remove reflections in a narrow shell that have been compromised by ice ring streaks, for example.

-d
Ordinarily the `cutoff' operation writes out a MULTIREF in which ONLY the reflections that lie inside the resolution limits are written out. If this Boolean flag is specified the out-of-bounds reflections are written out, but with their scale factors negated so that they are not considered in scaling.
<lowres>
This specifies the low-resolution cutoff in Angstroms,
below which reflections will not be output. Default value: 999.
<highres>
This specifies the high-resolution cutoff in Angstroms,
above which reflections will not be output. Default value: 0.

EXAMPLES

cutoff 20 3.2
Read a MULTIREF and write another which contains only the data between 20 and 3.2 Angstroms:
cutoff -d 9 2.5
Read a MULTIREF and write out another containing the data between 9 and 2.5 Angstroms, but with the data outside that range flagged rather than deleted.
